Biography
Rémy Fichet, born in Amiens (France), completed his dance training at the Paris Opera Ballet School. After two years as a dancer at the Ballet de l'Opéra national de Paris, he joined the Leipzig Ballet in 2000, where he danced in the ensemble until 2008, most recently as a soloist. He not only excelled in the works of Uwe Scholz, particularly the pas de deuxs, but also danced in choreographies by George Balanchine, Jiří Kylián, John Cranko and Kenneth MacMillan, among others. Following his dancing career, he remained loyal to dance and the Leipzig Ballet. As a scheduler and project coordinator and, since 2012, as artistic production manager, Rémy Fichet created the structural framework for the successful work of the Leipzig Ballet, additionally qualified with a two-year part-time management degree and a Master of Arts, which he completed with honours at the Palucca University of Dance Dresden in 2023. Rémy Fichet has been the Director of the Leipzig Ballet since the 2024/25 season. He established special dance-medical support for the ballet ensemble at Oper Leipzig for the first time and attaches great importance to long-term, individually tailored support for dancers and the next generation of choreographic creatives.
