Biography

Constantin Trinks works with renowned opera companies and orchestras all over the world. His early career saw him rise from Kapellmeister to interim music director within a few years. Between 2009-2012, Trinks held the position of Music Director at the Staatstheater Darmstadt. Acknowledged as a major Wagner conductor, Constantin Trinks celebrated the Wagner Bicentenary conducting »Der fliegende Holländer« in Dresden (in Spring 2013), »Tannhäuser« in Tokyo, Strasbourg, Deutsche Oper Berlin and Frankfurt, as well as Wagner's early opera »Das Liebesverbot« at the Bayreuth Festival and for Opéra du Rhin in Strasbourg. He conducted »Lohengrin« and »Das Rheingold« for Leipzig Opera.

Other operatic engagements have included productions at Staatsoper Hannover. Bayerische Staatsoper München/ Münchner Opernfestspiele, Royal Swedish Opera, Oper Köln, Seattle Opera, Teatro dell’Opera di Roma, New National Theatre Tokyo, Opernhaus Zürich and Opéra National de Paris.

He maintains a significant presence as a symphonic conductor, with the National Orchestra of Belgium, Auckland Philharmonia, George Enescu Philharmonic Orchestra, Orchestre National des Pays de la Loire, as well as Philharmonisches Staatsorchester Hamburg.

Constantin Trinks has also appeared with Dresden Philharmonic, Vancouver Symphony, Salzburg Mozarteum at the Grosses Festspielhaus in Salzburg, and the Orchestre de Chambre de Paris.

His discography includes a live recording of Hans Rott’s Symphony No. 1 with the Mozarteum Orchester (ECHO Classic Award), with the Rundfunk-Sinfonieorchester Berlin Pfitzner’s Piano Concerto Op. 31 (with pianist Markus Becker) and Braunfels’ Tag- und Nachtstücke on Hyperion. More recently, he has recorded the Beethoven piano concertos with pianist Michael Korstick and ORF Vienna, as well as Wilhelm Petersen’s Symphony No. 3 with the Hessischer Rundfunk Symphony Orchestra in Frankfurt.
