We welcome you 90 minutes before the performance in the stalls foyer (for performances in the opera house) or in the entrance foyer (for performances in the Musikalische Komödie) and then we take you on a tactile tour of the stage for a guided tour or feel through the world of fabrics, costumes, wigs, props and stage design elements.
We then offer opera with live audio description for blind and visually impaired people. Guests are given precise descriptions of everything that happens on stage via a headset. Speaker Anke Nicolai says: ‘The art is to reproduce the events in the short gaps where there is no singing, to fill the gaps precisely and with the essentials so that the production comes to new, colourful life.’

‘For me, offering audio description means inclusion. With my live descriptions of musical theatre performances, blind and visually impaired visitors experience cultural and social participation. I am an aid, so to speak, and make the opera, the production, visible to the ear.’
