Max Bialystock, formerly a successful Broadway producer who only turns out flops nowadays, comes up with a plan together with his dull accountant Leo Bloom: their next production is to be the worst one ever! They raise far more money than is actually necessary and hope that the production will be shut down as soon as possible. After all, the plan is to leave for Rio with the rest of the money. Their choice falls on the musical »Springtime for Hitler« by the mad old Nazi Franz Liebkind: a homage to Adolf Hitler! They hire the flop director Roger DeBris and the worst actors around. Will their plan work?
Mel Brooks' musical parodies not only Hitler and the National Socialists, but also the show business industry, brimming with bitterly wicked humour that tests the limits of good taste.
