Biography
Stephanie Theiß received her artistic training at the Folkwang University of the Arts and performed at the Ruhrfestspiele Recklinghausen and the Grillo-Theater Essen during her studies. This was followed by engagements at the Residenztheater in Munich, the Frankfurt and Bonn opera houses and the state theaters in Karlsruhe, Darmstadt and Saarbrücken. The versatile artist is active in both drama and musical theater, for example at the Staatstheater Darmstadt as »Old Elisabeth« in the opera »Maria Stuarda« (Donizetti) and also in the German premiere of the play »In Tuscany« by Sergi Belbel. As »Evita«, she has appeared on stage a total of 86 times, most recently at the Kiel Opera, where she previously played the title role in Cole Porter's »Silk stockings«. She has worked under the direction of Johanna Schall, Hans Günther Heyme, Rosamund Gilmor, Ryan McBryde and many others. Most recently, she was on stage at Theater Trier as »Blanche« in »Endstation Sehnsucht« (Williams), Maria Callas in »Meisterklasse« (McNally), »Gabrielle« in »Pariser Leben« (Offenbach) and as the title character in »Mutter Courage« (Brecht) under the direction of Christina Gegenbauer.
In the 2024/25 season, she will make her debut at the Musikalische Komödie with the role of Public Opinion in »Orpheus in the Underworld«.
