Michael Heim

Biography

The Austrian Heldentenor Michael Heim comes from Thuringia in Vorarlberg and initially studied music as a teacher. He then worked for several years as a journalist for the »Vorarlberger Nachrichten«. He studied singing with Nicolai Gedda, Franzisco Araiza and KS Irmgard Boas in Dresden, among others. His most important roles today are Siegfried, Tannhäuser, Erik, Lohengrin, Loge, Max, Florestan, Bacchus, Paganini, Count Tassilo and Gabriel von Eisenstein. The most important stages where Michael Heim sings are the Zurich Opera House, the State Operas of Hamburg, Stuttgart, Frankfurt, Cologne, Munich, the Baden-Baden Easter Festival, the Salzburg Festival, the Opera di Genova Teatro Carlo Felice, the Aalto Musiktheater Essen, Lincoln Center New York, the Gewandhaus Leipzig, the Philharmonie Essen, the Cologne Philharmonie, the Berlin Philharmonie, the Konzerthaus Berlin and others. He has already worked with the following conductors: Kent Nagano, Kurt Masur, Peter Schreier, Gianandrea Noseda, Axel Kober, Manfred Honeck, Robin Ticciati, Kirill Petrenko, Ralf Weikert, Raphael Frühbeck de Burgos, Vladimir Jurowski, Herbert Mogg, Franz Bauer-Theussel, Alfred Eschwé.

Michael Heim sings Count Tassilo in the operetta »Gräfin Mariza« at the Musikalische Komödie in 2024.
