Biography
Was born in Münster. He debuted in Berlin with the Deutsche Sinfonie-Orchester Berlin in 1997. He was First Kapellmeister at the Landestheater Detmold, and starting in 2000 was First Kapellmeister at the Komische Oper Berlin. He was a prize winner in the 2002 Dirigentenforums des Deutschen Musikrats. He was General Music Director and Opera Director from 2003-12 at the Mecklenburgisches Staatstheater Schwerin. He has appeared in concert with the Staatskapelle Dresden, the Deutsche Sinfonie-Orchester Berlin, the Dresdener Philharmonie, the WDR Rundfunksinfonieorchester, the RSO Berlin, the SWR-Sinfonieorchester, the MDR Sinfonieorchester and the Finnish Radio Symphony Orchestra Helsinki. He has regularly appeared as guest at the Deutsche Oper Berlin since 2004. He has been Principal Conductor of the Stuttgart Kammeorchester since 2013. He has held a professorship in conducting and orchestra leadership at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater Leipzig since 2011/12. He has been at the Oper Leipzig since the 2011/12 season as Principal Guest Conductor, and has musically led productions of »Das schlaue Füchslein«, »Rigoletto«, »Pinocchio«, »Das Liebesverbot«, »The Canterville Ghost/Pagliacci«, »Le nozze di Figaro«, »Boléro/Le Sacre du Printemps« und »Carmen«, among others. His productions in the 2021/22 season include »Der Sturz des Antichrist« as well as the ballet production of »Faust« und »Soto / Scholz / Schröder«.
