Biography
Jan Jochymski was born in Leipzig in 1969 and studied there acting at the »Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy« Academy of Music and Theater from 1990 to 1994. During his studies, he founded the independent group »TheaterschaffT« in 1992. After a permanent engagement as an actor and director at the Theaterhaus Jena, from 1997 he staged numerous plays as a freelance director both in the independent scene and at state and municipal theaters, as well as his own versions of plays and classical and contemporary drama texts. Stations were among others: TIF Staatsschauspiel Dresden, Deutsches Theater Berlin, Sophiensaele Berlin, Volksbühne Berlin, Schauspiel Leipzig, Staatstheater Stuttgart, Volkstheater Rostock, Maxim Gorki Theater Berlin, Staatstheater Meiningen, Theater Bielefeld, Staatstheater Cottbus, Theater Osnabrück, Landestheater Tübingen, Schauspielhaus Graz. From 2009 to 2014, Jan Jochymski was acting director at Theater Magdeburg. He also worked as a guest lecturer at various universities. Since 2014, he has worked as a freelance director at numerous theaters.
In 2023/24, he will stage »Peter Pan« together with Stefan Ebeling – his directorial debut at the Musikalische Komödie.
